About the Committee

The Melrose Pedestrian & Bicyclist Committee is a group of resident volunteers working to improve conditions for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders in the city. Activities of the Committee include:

  • Developing materials to encourage more walking, biking, and public transit use within the city.
  • Enhancing Melrose’s reputation as a prime commuter city.
  • Reviewing City plans for road construction and offer input.
  • Commenting on pedestrian, bicycle, and transit-related ordinances and improvements, as well as advocating for sustainable transportation options to be featured in new housing and commercial developments.
  • Working with other pedestrian and bicycle organizations at the local, regional, state, and national level to advocate for safer streets for all.
  • Organizing and participate in public events such walk to school days, Healthy Melrose, Victorian Fair, Bike to Work Day, and others.

Members of the committee range from lifelong, multi-generational Melrose residents to brand new arrivals. Our meetings are always open to anyone who wants it to be safer to walk and bike around the city.
