Melrose’s Latest “Slow Street” Project: Linden Road

The Melrose Ped/Bike Committee would like to congratulate the residents of Linden Road, between Green Street and Lynn Fells Parkway, for getting Melrose’s latest Shared Streets and Spaces project on the books!

A few weeks ago, we were invited by residents Lani and Garrett Nelson to join a virtual neighborhood meeting to explain the grant and share ideas about how they could re-imagine their street with traffic calming features in place. The residents took over from there! They gathered together, obtained neighborhood consensus, discussed implementation, and then worked with the City to receive and deploy their materials.

We’re SO excited when we see neighborhoods coming together and agreeing to make safe streets a priority. These projects will provide the City of Melrose with valuable feedback about what works, and what doesn’t work, for traffic calming measures on our residential streets. We look forward to hearing more from the residents about their experience hosting this quick-built project. If you’re interested in learning more about this project, email the city here, or you can feel free to drop us a note and we’ll help explain the process.
