DESCRIPTION:The organizers of the incredible Horace Mann Bike Bus are hosting a seminar on how to start a bike bus at YOUR school! Are you interested in starting a bike bus at your local school? Join us on Saturday\, March 1st at The Ride Cafe to learn more about bike buses! We will talk about important steps to take when starting a bike bus and hear from bike bus organizers from Melrose\, Lexington\, Andover\, and West Roxbury. There is no cost to attend and it is open to anyone and everyone from the Boston area. Come grab a drink from Hannah’s Brewery (located right next door) and talk bike buses with us! RSVP’s are strongly encouraged if you plan on attending.

SUMMARY:Bike to the Sea Day 2024
DESCRIPTION:Bike to the Sea Day is one of the biggest regional biking events of the year! \nAttendees departing from Melrose are encouraged to meet at the YMCA on Main Street at 8:00am\, to ride together to the start of the route in Malden. \nEvent details below\, and at the link. \n  \nRoute & Length: The ride begins at the Bike Kitchen and ends at 3 Amigos Bar and Grill at 375 Main St. in Malden. There will be 2 route options for each participant to choose from. The long ride going all the way to Nahant Beach and back will be ~19 miles round trip\, and includes both trail and on-road riding. The on-road segment in Lynn will have a police detail escorting riders. The short ride will be ~13 miles round trip\, will be fully on the trail\, and will turn around at Marsh View Park in Lynn. \nMinimum age for riders is 8 years old\, unless on a tag-along\, trailer\, or bike seat. \nFood and Drink Tickets for the post ride lunch at 3 Amigos Bar and Grill must be ordered at registration. It will feature a build-your-own taco bar with carnitas\, chicken\, and vegetarian options\, plus a salad bar. Lunch prices include: $25 per adult. $12.50 per child. Bike Parking will be available with temporary bike stands right outside the restaurant. Bring your lock! \nOther Details \nBike to the Sea T-Shirts and additional merchandise will be available for purchase on Bike to the Sea Day\, while supplies last. Helmets are required to be worn by all riders. We have a limited number of helmets that can be provided to you at check-in should you need one. Bring water\, a flat repair kit\, and sunscreen. And be sure to check the weather forecast ahead of time so you are well prepared for whatever it may bring. Registration closes on Friday\, May 31st at 8pm. Bike to the Sea Merch is only available for purchase on Bike to the Sea Day.

DESCRIPTION:Save the Date! Our friends at The Loop are throwing the city’s first-ever KIDS BIKE FEST! Featuring obstacles\, bike rides\, music\, food\, and more! \nThis event will give kids the opportunity to explore their community on two wheels and participate in family-friendly\, non-competitive riding. This event helps to build riding skills while having fun. The whole family and community can celebrate after with food\, music & more. \nEvent Features: \nThere will be two different event categories\, and we encourage all kids— regardless of their size and ability — to join in. \n\nBalance Bike & Scooter Events – Short ride on the Melrose High School (H.S.) Athletic Complex paths with optional obstacle course.\nKids Pedal Event led by Bike to the Sea – A few loops around the Melrose H.S. paths with obstacle courses. This event is best for kids who can confidently ride a pedal bike on their own\, and are between the ages of 3-10. DESCRIPTION:Even if you don’t work downtown\, we’d love to have you join us on Friday\, May 19th\, for one of our favorite events of the year! We depart from the Melrose YMCA (Main Street) at 7am\, head to Malden\, connect to the North Strand\, and then meet up in Everett with a group from East Boston to finish our ride into downtown Boston! The City of Boston puts on a festival with free breakfast and coffee for riders. \nGenerally\, a group of folks will stay downtown\, with other riders choosing either to head back to Melrose.
