DESCRIPTION:Join our great friends at Bike to the Sea to discuss setting up our own Bike Kitchen along the Northern Strand Trail. Aeronaut Cannery in Everett is hosting\, and Carolicious will be serving arepas onsite. \nIf you don’t already know\, a bike kitchen is a community space that holds weekly “shop hours” to provide people with bike stands\, tools\, and cheap or free spare parts to fix their bikes. One or more trained or self-taught mechanics staff the shop hours\, though they are mostly there to keep track of tools and equipment\, and offer pointers. DESCRIPTION:JOIN US! We will be leaving from Melrose to participate in the annual Bike to the Sea Fall Colors Ride!\n\nThe free ride is expected to last 90 minutes\, covering about 15 miles of paved trail along the Northern Strand Trail in Everett and Malden\, as well as along bike paths on both sides of the Mystic and Malden Rivers through Somerville and Medford. The terrain is mostly flat.\n\nhttps://biketothesea.org/…/annual-fall-colors-ride-set…/\n\n**WE WILL MEET AT THE YMCA ON MAIN STREET\, 497 MAIN STREET\, AT 10:30AM**.\n\nBike to the Sea\, who sponsors the ride\, requires helmets on participants. Children\, 8 and older\, are welcome on their own bikes. Children younger than 8 are welcome but should be on a parent’s bike or in a trailer\, etc.

We’ll be heading north\, turning around at Wyoming\, and heading back south. The conditions of the pavement are awful\, but that shouldn’t stop us from imagining all this corridor can be once the city completes the final work! \nThis event is for all ages and abilities! \n(A group of us will probably head over to Jitters afterwards\, too — you can never have too much coffee).

DESCRIPTION:Meeting Notice: City of Melrose Lower Main Street Pilot\nPOSTED ON: JULY 15\, 2021 – 4:17PM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe City of Melrose is pleased to announce a pilot program to improve vehicle\, pedestrian\, and bicycle safety. The intent of the project is to improve safety for all users of the roadway on Main Street between West Wyoming Avenue and the Malden line. \nWe will be conducting a public forum to present the pilot project and solicit feedback from the neighborhood and users of the roadway. The meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday\, July 21st at 7:00 PM. The link to join the meeting can be found at www.cityofmelrose.org/remote-meetings \nThe City is in a unique position to be able to pilot potential line striping changes now\, in advance of final paving of portions of this corridor in the fall. By placing temporary markings in the road this summer\, we can gauge community feedback and determine whether these changes are the right choice for the long-term. \nThis pilot project will consist of shifting the center line\, installing bike lanes\, and eliminating parking on one side of the road in select project areas\, to accommodate the changes. Our long-term plans also include the addition of new crosswalks across Main Street along with accessible curb ramps and other pedestrian safety improvements. \nWe hope you are able to attend this meeting.
